Homeschool

Thanks for the guest post by Donn Schroeder

For a variety of complicated reasons, my husband and I recently decided to allow our bright 11th grade son to finish his last two years of high school as a home-schooled student. We feel very good about our decision, and he is very grateful for our support and understanding. We are looking into curriculums and programs for him to use, many of which are on the internet. We are also going to look at Direct.tv to see if there are any appropriate shows or documentaries that would support his studies. I am surprised that there is so much out there. It is hard to know which would be best. Luckily, our community has a very strong homeschool group, and I am getting some great ideas and guidance from them. Most of their children are much younger than our son, though, so I am having to enter new uncharted territory. It is hard to imagine how people homeschooled before the internet! I am finding such good information and guidance from online support groups as well.

  1. I homeschooled our 3 children for 13 years and it was one of the best ideas we ever had. One is a college graduate and 2 are in 4 yr. colleges now. Enjoy.
