Staying in Touch With the Grandkids

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

Ever since we got internet service we have been learning what all the fuss is about. Our grandchildren and children have been begging us to get it for years. We retired about twenty years ago and really never had any experience with the internet, so we didn’t know what we were missing. We live about ten hours away from our oldest child and about six hours away from our youngest. Our grandchildren are scattered in different parts of the country, but we don’t have any grandchildren that are close. We have been able to stay in touch with e-mail. One of the coolest things that we have been able to do to follow and stay in touch with our family is to look at their blogs daily. Our grandchildren are really good about blogging. They post about what they did during the day, places they visited on the weekend, and also post pictures. The internet is a great tool for us to stay in touch with our family when we can’t always be around.

  1. I SO wish my in-laws would ‘cave’ and get a computer with internet access. They are so proud of themselves for NOT having it and not succumbing to the horrible identity-thieving Internet that they do not know what joys they are missing in communications. Oh well. Congrats to you Aldo Mays for taking the risks and enjoying your grandkids across the miles.
